What should I wear?

As you will be asked to undress to your underwear it is advisable to make sure it is suitable for this occasion. It will make it easier for the osteopath to make a full assessment and to be able to offer you effective treatment.

Does it hurt?
No. The techniques used are gentle and work with the “permission” of the body soft-tissues. Very occasionally you might feel a ‘clicking’ sensation as the soft-tissues adjust, but it is not painful.

Can I have someone with me?
Yes. The treatment room is considered to be a place of absolute privacy and confidentiality between practitioner and patient, but if you would like to have a friend or family member with you, you are welcome to bring them in with you. As Meridian Osteopath is only a small practice, we are unable to provide you with a chaperone and you will need to bring your own.

How many treatments will I need?
There are no rules for this. On the whole, for a straight forward, simple injury, anything from 3 to 6 sessions with the osteopath over a 6 to 12 week period is usual. Each complaint and person is unique and the course and style of treatment will be discussed with you at your first visit, and then regularly reassessed when necessary.
